Hi all,
One of my early poor quality Brownie camera pictures taken at work. Can you believe they would let a 15 year old loose amongst this lot nowadays! I loved it. This is Saltley depot Duddeston Mill Road Birmingham, what a place! Standing outside three shed in the yard are two standard engines, 2-10-0 9F 92123 from Leicester and 4-6-0 5MT 73004 from Chester, a rare visitor indeed not many of these turned up here, only in passing usually, even if that. The 9Fs were common though. As usual the ground is covered in all sorts of detritus. Lumps of coal, years of oil, ash, old sleepers an old brake stick by the front bogey of 73004. The shed roof had disappeared by now because it had become dangerous. All a very sorry state indeed. You couldn’t find this spot today even if you tried.
Sometime in early 1965.
Regards Ledg.
