Reflections

Hi all,
Reflections.
I Decided at the last minute to head off to Kidderminster on Saturday the 5th January to see the Severn Valley Winter Steam Gala arriving at 11.50 in time to see 4930 “ Hagley Hall” arrive with the 10.45 from Bridgnorth.
Having seen photo’s of the railway taken at Foley Park crossing the Staffordshire & Worcestershire Canal I thought I would give it a go and set off on my trusty chair down into the town to find the canal. Premier Inn Hotel was the landmark I found converted from an old mill, aha! I thought old mills were always next to canals and sure enough there it was at the back. So just after 2 miles the bridge was finally found and as you can see a fine structure it is. What I hadn’t anticipated was a flat calm waterway with a reflection. I had only found one other place where the railway ran alongside a large farm pond located at Craven Arms by Stokesay Castle. On the day I went to see 70000 “Britannia” working up to Shrewsbury and said pond was flat calm until 5 minutes before the train came when it began to rain and wrecked the whole thing.
So here was for only the second time the opportunity not to be missed.
7812 “Erlestoke Manor” working the 13.45 Kidderminster to Bridgnorth and ex Great Western 0-6-0 pannier tank 7714 and ex Great Western 0-4-2 Auto tank 1450 working the 12.25 Bridgnorth Kidderminster. I shall be paying more visits to this location when conditions improve all being well. Even found a bus back to Kiddy!
5th January 2025.
Regards

Leg.
