Nechalls Power station Birmingham

Hi all,
Here’s another shot found at Nechells Power Station Birmingham. For those unaccustomed to the areas of the city Nechells is north of the city centre, Aston is nearby. The Power Station has long gone to be replaced by Star City. A Central Electricity Board 0-6-0 tank engine powers a rake of loaded 16 ton mineral wagons of coal from the Tame and Rea sidings named after the two local rivers that meet next to what was Bromford up sidings at the time. All these train loads were propelled into the Tame and Ray sidings via a slip road next to Hill 60 one of the local railway land marks used for shunting wagons into the sidings at Bromford. Many of my hours at work were spent on an 08 shunt engine pushing wagons over the hump. 1st December 1969
