Hi all,
Last Saturday was a perfect day for a change after all that rain we have been getting and it fell on the day the Scotsman was out doing trips to Stratford Upon Avon and Birmingham Snow Hill. So batteries charged I took my camera to Whitlock’s End the next station beyond Shirley with the 11.40 to Stratford via Henley in Arden. Along with a few other people who had turned up I positioned my self at the end of the platform and waited for it to turn up. Two pictures, the first is at Whitlocks End and another of it passing through Birmingham Moor Street working the 13.45 Snow Hill to Stratford. The engine is now tender first and you can see the corridor connection that was used during steam days before the introduction of the A4 Class. The corridor was used for changing footplate crews half way on the journey from London to Edinburgh on the non stop journey, usually somewhere between York and Darlington. It was very narrow so you had to be pretty slim! There was also a round window at each end for a little light to enter which you can also see. A class 37 is present just in case of any failures. A3 class 3 cylinder pacific 4-6-2 60103 Flying Scotsman.
14th February 2026.
Regards
Ledg.
