Day late this week, been to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for a few days.
In the gloom of Vienna Nord depot shafts of sunlight stream down from the roof onto the shed floor. 77-22 an Austrian 4-6-2 tank is ready for the rush hour service out into the suburbs from Vienna Pratterstern station. Another engine behind of the same class, 77-17 is lit up by the rays of sun and is also being pre paired for the evening service by shed staff. Both engines are fitted with Giesl ejector chimneys which were very much favoured in Austria.
Wednesday 4th October 1972.
